01.
The challenge
A field on the edge of Barton Stacey.

The site is an open field at the end of West Road, just outside the village boundary and a short walk from the school, shop and other village facilities. It sits close to the Barton Stacey Conservation Area in an attractive chalk downland setting. The scheme had to sit quietly on the village edge and keep the open, rural feel of the land.

02.
The proposal
JPP submitted a full application for four new homes.

We proposed four detached family homes with garages, reached by a short extension of West Road. The homes take up only a small part of the site. The rest, almost two hectares, becomes new public open space for the village: a wildflower meadow with an orchard of heritage fruit trees, mown paths, new native hedgerows with new trees, linked into the local footpath network.

03.
The outcome
Resolution to grant planning permission.

The Council’s Northern Area Planning Committee resolved to grant planning permission, recognising the benefit of new homes in a sustainable location next to the village and the generous new open space for local people. The formal decision will be issued once the final legal agreement is completed.
